A counter where the card takings repay the advance.

Cash advance

What it is, and where it fits badly

A cash advance is not a loan and is not priced like one. You receive a sum today and repay it as a percentage of takings, so a quiet week costs less and a busy one costs more.

Approval leans on revenue rather than on the credit file, which makes it the most accessible programme here and the most expensive. It is the right answer when speed genuinely decides the outcome and the wrong one when it is simply the easiest to get.

What to ask the lender
Ask for the total repayable in dollars and the expected number of weeks. A factor rate cannot be compared to an interest rate and an honest rep will say so unprompted.

What it gives you

Why an owner takes this one

  • Approved on revenue rather than on credit score
  • No fixed payment to meet in a slow week
  • The broadest credit acceptance of the six
  • No out-of-pocket fees

The application

One application. 80+ lenders. Fifteen minutes.

About fifteen minutes. One application reaches 80+ lenders, costs nothing, commits nothing, and leaves no mark on the owner's credit score.

Business Cash Advance

A sum against future sales, repaid as a share of them.

Amount
$5,000 – $500,000
Cost
10% – 35% factor

The cash advance is priced as a factor and the other five as a rate, and the two do not compare. A factor of 1.2 on $100,000 is $120,000 to repay whether it clears in six months or eighteen — settling it early does not make it cheaper. Interest falls when the balance does. Any comparison that puts a factor beside a rate is comparing two different things.
